About ‘Treatment technology’

It's time to explain the treatment technology.

I think this can be divided into four stages:

The first phase, before 2019:

Before OUMO entered this field, the entire industry had no clear standards for the treatment of badger hair .

The treatment is more for aesthetic. At that time, the purchase order standard of almost brands was not to damage the integrity of the hair tip.

This treatment softens the hair tips to a certain extent, as varying temperatures and humidity affect the degree of treatment, so the degree of treatment does not remain stable from batch to batch.

In order to let customers better understand the characteristics of each batch, Each brand must explain the characteristics of each batch of product...

Most brands will also ask us, the manufacturers, to be as consistent as possible.

Some products with a slightly higher degree of treatment will produce gel tips, but this was a rarely happend at the time.

2019 to early 2021:

We have improved our treatment technology, especially focusing on the gel tip.We believe gel tips can greatly improve the touch, so during this period, badger hair knots with gel tips became the mainstream in the market.

Of course, this technology has also greatly accelerated the development of OUMO.

Almost most high-end badger hair knotson the market during this period featured gel tips.

During this period when the top priority request among the orders we received was for gel tips.

However, the treatment technology at this period was not yet mature, and some badger hair tips will have red treatment marks. Although it does not affect the use, it will have some impact on the appearance.

Especially for some high-end hand-knotted products, defects in such expensive products are unacceptable to any customer.

Mid-2021 to mid-2022:

For the ultimate touch, OUMO has launched Lotus treatment technology, which can bring a cloud-like touch, but at the same time, it greatly sacrifices the service life of the badger knot.

The Lotus treatment can be understood as searching for the breaking critical point of badger hair. The closer to this critical point, the more absorbent the water becomes. At the same time, the cuticles at the hair tips expand with moisture, resulting in ultimate softness.

But at the same time, it is so absorbent that it requires a larger amount of shaving cream/soap, making Lotus a new generation soap monster.

During this time, Lotus treatment generated as many positive reviews as negative reviews.

So I call it a "love-hate treatment."

The end of 2022 to present:

We have upgraded our treatment technology again.

This time we are looking for a method that has the Lotus experience while taking into account the service life.

But unfortunately, this is a paradox and it is impossible to achieve this result using traditional treatment.

We improved the long-standing treatment and innovated an extremely time-consuming treatment technology, but only partially achieved the goal.

We retain most of the oiliness and maintain the integrity of each badger hair as much as possible, changing the traditional way of treatment the tip of the hair. We switched to topical treatment, divided into four stages of treatment.

The final result is just like the products everyone buys now. T-3/4/5/6, M-3/4/5, and Meri-2 all use this technology.

Of course, this technology is not perfect, and we are still looking for new ways to achieve our ultimate goal.

Each badger hair is complete and soft, and can even enhance the elasticity of the badger hair and the length of the hair tip.

We've been experimenting, and now the materials used in the experiment can be used to make two complete Tyrant series.

I believe that we will eventually succeed and put an end to Badger hair treatment technology.

-----------------------------------------------

I found that many new people have entered the Wet Shave circle in recent years, which is very meaningful for the entire retro culture.

However, most newcomers have not experienced the period 19 years ago and have great doubts or even misunderstandings about treatment technology.

I think this article can address these issues to some extent.

Thank you so much!

Best regards,
Carry
