OUMO Chronicles
Carry, Founder of OUMO
As a former client director at a 4A advertising agency leading brand strategy and UI design projects, my decade-long journey with premium brands taught me that true greatness emerges through relentless innovation and customer-centric evolution. Every industry milestone is paved with countless trial-and-error moments, which inspires our humble yet determined approach at OUMO.
2017 | Establishment & Industry Reformation
Born in late 2017 as a shaving brush material specialist, OUMO initiated its first revolution by redefining century-old badger hair grading standards. Our refined classification system (later evolving into Manchuria/ACE/Tyrant series) not only established technical foundations for future innovations but inspired industry-wide grading refinements – a collective progress that ultimately empowered consumers with more precise customization options.
2018 | Density Revolution
The introduction of Super High Density (SHD) badger knots marked our second breakthrough. What began as an experimental density parameter gradually became an industry benchmark, catalyzing subsequent EX/HD classifications and proving that thoughtful innovation could reshape market expectations.
2019 | Retail Exploration
Venturing into direct consumer engagement through Aliexpress allowed us to test global market waters. While the platform's multi-payment solutions and logistics network provided initial growth momentum, we soon realized the need for deeper brand expression beyond third-party constraints.
2020 | Material Renaissance
Our transition to crafting handles from noble metals, rare woods, and Chinese lacquer artistry signaled a pivotal shift. This wasn't merely product upgrading, but a philosophical commitment to transforming functional tools into heritage-worthy artifacts.
2022 | Dual Evolution
The launch of our independent website coincided with groundbreaking knot innovations. The controversial Lotus series sparked passionate debates, while Meri's initial misunderstanding as boar hair eventually revealed its unique character. Meanwhile, Tyrant and Emperor series emerged as new market benchmarks through continuous technical refinement – a testament to our belief that true excellence requires embracing both praise and critique.
2023 | Collector's Odyssey
Origin Series redefined exclusivity in brush craftsmanship. Limited to 50 globally annual units, these museum-grade pieces using proprietary materials represent our ultimate tribute to traditional artisanship while challenging contemporary production boundaries.
2024 | Dual-Track Innovation
Liuli Series - Shattering the physical constraints of traditional resin handles through structural reconfiguration, we ignite a light-transmission revolution. While preserving the essence of resin craftsmanship, we bestow unprecedented light-refracting dimensions, where each grain becomes a narrator of luminosity.
Precision Renaissance - Our micron-level CNC engraving systems embody a digital interpretation of the artisan ethos from Ming Dynasty Tiangong Kaiwu (Exploiting Nature's Works), simultaneously paying tribute to modern precision manufacturing.
Gratitude & Commitment
Every product iteration (Tyrant 1-7 generations, Manchuria adaptations) follows meticulous market listening. We remain grateful for our global community's candid feedback that shaped OUMO's evolution. To all who questioned, supported, or challenged us – you are the true architects of our journey.
From democratizing titanium handles to making stabilized wood accessible, our mission persists: to transform luxurious experiences into attainable indulgences. As we explore new frontiers in 2024 and beyond, OUMO pledges to stay rooted in three principles – respect for tradition, courage for innovation, and unwavering commitment to our craft community.
For us, every brush is not just a product, but a conversation across continents and generations. Thank you for being part of this ongoing dialogue.
In humble apprenticeship to the craft,
Carry
