This is an exceptionally ancient and treasured traditional craft. It gives brush handles a luxurious decorative finish that other processes struggle to achieve.
As far back as four years ago, when we first experimented with gold leaf, we envisioned applying this foil gilding technique. At the time, however, we could not overcome the core challenge: creating a suitable protective coating. We also considered using a resin coating similar to the one in our "Civilization Limited Series," but that approach inevitably blurred fine details and aesthetic nuances — such as the crisp edges of the handles. So the technique had to be put on hold.
Last year, the breakthrough arrived with OUMO's innovative Glaze finishing process. This means we can now use Glaze as a base layer, upon which we can build a variety of additional decorative surface effects. The long-awaited foil gilding technique finally has a path to realization.
We are not limiting ourselves to simple single-color foils — gold or silver. Instead, we will use more sophisticated methods, blending multiple colored foils to produce richer, more diverse visual effects. The result is an incredibly rich, luxurious color palette that no other process can match. And because of the craftsmanship involved and the distinctive aesthetic, these pieces are inherently collectible.
