In September, we launched a survey on our website asking which dynasty handles you’d like to see featured next in our Dynasty Series. The results were remarkably close: the Shang & Zhou period won with 12 votes, narrowly beating the Three Kingdoms, which received 11 votes
This outcome surprised me. While the Three Kingdoms era is widely recognized internationally, the Shang and Zhou dynasties—dating back over 3,700 years—are less familiar to many outside China. Even within China, much of what people know about this period comes through the legendary tales of Fengshen Yanyi(The Investiture of the Gods)
Inspired by your input, we are proud to present Dynasty: Shang & Zhou as the next installment in our Dynasty Series.
The design concept came to me almost instantly: I envisioned blending two iconic cultural artifacts—ancient knife coins（刀币） and bronze ritual bells (编钟). The handle’s form is a harmonious fusion of these elements, evoking the grandeur and mystique of the era. To ensure superior comfort, we incorporated smoothly beveled edges where the handle meets the palm, resulting in a full and satisfying grip
The handle is structured with three distinct segments, accented with copper ring inserts to enhance its premium and archaic feel.
For the main body, we once again employed our signature Glaze technique, which intensifies the material’s innate beauty—making great materials look extraordinary. This is why we continue to embrace this unique finishing process.
In terms of materials, the handle features a rich selection of stabilized wood, precious timber, artificial turquoise, and foil-embedded cores, reflecting the brilliance of that mythical age. The upper and lower sections are crafted from resin variants such as pure white, faux ivory, and crushed stone resin, complemented by desert ironwood accents.
Together, these choices create a handle that feels both ancient and dazzling.
The Dynasty: Shang & Zhou shaving brush handle will launch in a strictly limited edition of 50 pieces. Each handle is named after a character from Fengshen Yanyi, infusing every piece with legendary charm.
The collection will be released on Black Friday, November 28th.
