Code Name: "Epoch"
Epoch, the forthcoming ultra-fine Two band product by OUMO, showcases remarkable characteristics. In contrast to it, there is the Finest two band, which is crafted from the identical material yet undergoes light bleaching procedures, and is designated with the code name "Elixir". The following presents the phase test report specifically focused on Epoch.
Four samples were meticulously fabricated, featuring medium to low densities, and they were categorized into four distinct models: 25mm bulb, Fan, 27mm blub, and fan. I took on the responsibility of testing the 25mm bulb model personally, while the remaining three samples were subjected to phased usage tests by three other proficient craftsmen.
Upon each occasion of handling it, an interesting perception would invariably arise. The bristle tips, which possess an extraordinary softness and smoothness, tend to create an impression that belies its classification as a two band. Particularly when it comes into contact with the facial skin, the tactile sensation is so refined that it could easily lead one to momentarily mistake it for a Slivertip. Indeed, it exhibits an outstanding level of softness, approaching the standard set by Kirin. Moreover, it demonstrates a commendable resilience, providing a gentle yet perceptible feedback that enables users to distinctly sense the path along which it glides across the facial surface.
Similar to other untreated badger knots, Epoch maintains an impressive level of efficiency. Owing to its relatively low density, when combined with appropriate handling techniques, it can effortlessly handle and generate lather from any shaving soap.
The combination of its relatively low density and the extremely fine hair tips endows it with an enhanced capacity for lather creation. Given that the quality of the shaving soap is satisfactory, it is capable of producing a lather with a desirable creamy texture.
I have a personal preference for directly creating lather on the face. Given that my skin is of a relatively sensitive nature and demands a relatively high level of softness, I am confident that many individuals share a similar skin condition.
Epoch distinguishes itself by being able to offer feedback during the shaving process while simultaneously avoiding any potential skin irritation through its gentle touch. This aspect holds significant importance, particularly from my personal perspective.
This particular two band variant, namely Epoch, is capable of delivering a unique shaving experience, effectively fulfilling multiple requirements simultaneously. Although its relatively fine hair may not possess the robustness of the backbone as seen in the case of Tyrant, it compensates by maintaining a relatively strong resilience. Unlike Tyrant, which conveys a sense of rigidity due to its sturdy backbone, Epoch presents a more supple and resilient feel.
I have, through personal assessment, defined Epoch as a two band that embodies the tactile quality of Kirin. It amalgamates the characteristics of two different types of badger hair, thereby presenting a distinct and valuable offering within the shaving product domain.
In the process of considering density and loft adjustments, a series of meticulous evaluations were conducted. Among the three different density options, the medium to low density was deliberately selected as it optimally showcases the unique features of Epoch, allowing users to fully appreciate its softness and resilience.
