The Silk badger knot series boasts a long history, originating when OUMO was founded in 2017. At that time, Silk occupied the same market position as the Manchuria series.

Over time, market demand for Finest Two Band badger hair significantly outpaced other types. Consequently, we gradually phased out the Silk series, replacing it with the higher-end Emperor series. Despite this, Silk continues to be frequently mentioned by numerous communities and customers who believe it offers a distinct advantage in terms of value for money.

Compared to the Emperor series, the Silk series uses raw material one grade lower. The primary difference in practical use manifests in the backbone (support/stiffness) of the knot. Additionally, the badger hair fibers are slightly shorter. However, in terms of actual experience, the difference between them may be less than 20%, which explains why Silk remains highly regarded by many customers.

Therefore, we have reintroduced this series, maintaining the density and other core characteristics of the first generation. The sole difference is the adoption of the hand-tied process, which enables the Silk knot to deliver enhanced central support.

The defining characteristic of Silk is reflected in its name: silky smoothness. The lower density makes it easier to splay, resulting in superior face lathering with an excellent wrap-around feel – an experience the Emperor series does not provide.
